XL Catlin’s insurance business today announced that Alain Wijnants has been appointed as Regional Manager, Benelux.

Mr. Wijnants, a respected and well established leader with almost three decades of experience in the insurance industry, steps into the role as Erik Hartkoren, who has worked as XL Catlin's Regional Manager Benelux since 2007, retires.

Kelly Lyles, Chief Executive, Client and Country Management, “commented, We're very pleased to announce that Alain will be joining us as Regional Manager Benelux, Alain is a highly respected member of the risk management community and I believe his skills and experience will be a great asset.”  Mr. Wijnants will join XL Catlin on 1 November 2018 from Zurich Commercial ÓÈÎïÊÓÆµwhere he currently serves as Global Head, Management Liability Commercial. Until then, Manon Van der Meer, XL Catlin’s Regional Claims Manager for the Netherlands, Belgium & Nordics, will serve as Country Manager on an interim basis.

With expert teams at offices in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Antwerp, XL Catlin's product offering in the Benelux Region includes innovative property, casualty, financial lines and marine solutions as well as specialty products and risk engineering services for large and medium-sized local and international industrial clients.

Mr. Wijnants brings 27 years of experience in the insurance market, having previously worked at Zurich, CNA Hardy, AIG, Chubb and AXA. Before joining XL Catlin, Mr. Wijnants was with Zurich Commercial ÓÈÎïÊÓÆµfor more than 10 years with responsibility for the company’s global commercial management liability portfolio. He had previously held the position of CEO, Zurich Financial Services for Benelux. He is a graduate of the University of Antwerp, where he earned a Master of Laws (LLM) degree.
