Joseph Madigan has been appointed Chief Underwriting Officer for AXA XL’s North American Environmental ÓÈÎïÊÓƵbusiness for Middle Market.

Previously Head of Environmental for the East Region for ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ Americas, Mr. Madigan joined AXA XL’s Environmental insurance business in 1998. He is based in AXA XL’s Exton, PA, office and reports to Matthew Waters, Head of Middle Market, Americas.

“¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵhas been a pioneer in the environmental insurance market with nearly 40 years of environmental underwriting experience,” said Mr. Waters. “With more than 25 years of experience in environmental insurance, Joe has been a big part of that journey. His new role will ensure that ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵwill continue to help businesses build their sustainability and be strong stewards of the environment.”

Mr. Madigan joined ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵas an Environmental Underwriter and took on more senior roles throughout his career, including Environmental Executive Underwriter and Environmental Regional Manager, Canada and Central US.

He graduated from Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, PA, with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies.

AXA XL’s Environmental insurance business helped build today’s environmental insurance market.
