¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµtoday announced it has become a member of the . Launched in 2024 and bringing together the maritime and nuclear industries, NEMO is committed to advancing the safe, secure and sustainable integration of nuclear technology in the maritime sector.

Vicky Roberts-Mills, Global Head of Energy Transition at ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµ commented: “The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has set ambitious targets to address the environmental impact of shipping. We know that nuclear energy is part of the answer and, as a leading provider of marine insurance, we believe we have a key role to play in the safe adoption of nuclear applications in the maritime sector.”

She added: “Becoming a member of NEMO will allow us to learn from the maritime and nuclear sectors while bringing our voice to the table to help shape standards and regulations for floating nuclear technology solutions.”

Jarek Klimczak, Chief Risk Consulting Officer for Specialty at ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµ further commented: “Our clients are already exploring new energy sources to power their vessels, including nuclear technology. Understanding the risks associated with these applications and helping our clients to mitigate those risks will be critical to scale these efforts.”
