¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµÓÈÎïÊÓÆµtoday announced the promotion of Catherine Carlyon to Country Manager, Australia effective August 1st, 2021, and the appointment of Gilles Fromageot as Regional Manager, Asia effective September 1st, 2021.

Ms. Carlyon, today Head of Claims, APAC, will in her new role, lead the overall insurance operations and drive AXA XL’s go-to-market strategy in Australia, which is the third largest market by Gross Written Premium for AXA XL’s APAC & Europe business unit. Based in Sydney, she reports to Xavier Veyry, CEO APAC & Europe.

Mr. Fromageot will be responsible for leading AXA XL’s growth plan and strengthening its market presence in Asia, including AXA XL’s current operations in Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan. He is based in Singapore and also reports to Xavier Veyry.

Commenting, Xavier Veyry, CEO APAC & Europe at ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµ said: “When making these appointments, I was looking for talents with extensive domestic and international experience. We all know Asia-Pacific is not a monolithic market; in fact, the countries are incredibly diverse in terms of economy, business, and culture.”

Their appointments reflect AXA XL’s continued commitment to investing in the best talent to support our clients and brokers.”

Ms. Carlyon has led AXA XL’s claims team in APAC since 2017. She joined ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµin 2005. Prior to her regional role, Ms. Carlyon was Chief of Staff for Global Claims, and before that worked in Global Claims Management for 10 years. Before joining ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµ Ms. Carlyon spent a decade with KPMG as Chartered Accountant, covering accounting and consulting on organizational, finance and process matters with ÓÈÎïÊÓÆµCompanies during which time she lived and worked in the UK, Australia, and the US.

Mr. Fromageot joins ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµfrom AXA Korea, where he held the position of President & CEO. Previously, he has had various executive roles in France, Spain, and Korea. In addition to his role in Korea, Mr. Fromageot has been a member of the Board of AXA Japan GI for six years, and he is currently serving as Non-Executive Director at AXA Tianping in China. Before joining AXA in 2007, Mr. Fromageot was an auditor and consultant at the French firm Mazars.

Today AXA XL’s Australia and Asia operations operate under one combined regional leadership structure within the APAC & Europe business unit. To deliver its strategy and better serve its clients & brokers, it is adjusting its structure by aligning teams to be dedicated to either Asia or Australia with some global functions to remain APAC so that there is consistency in identified areas.

Craig Langham will step down as Regional Leader, APAC and interim Country Manager, Australia, but will remain as Senior Advisor for Australia until the end of this year to ensure a smooth transition.
